Forgetting stuff
Two days ago I released the demo of my game AZERPG on itch.io to the fanfare of my wife and friends. Luckily enough it attracted quite a few eyes and many people have messaged me since to tell me how they like it or don't. The most important thing though is how many people have noticed small bugs or inconsistences in the game.
Which lead me to think, nothing can be perfect, polished or otherwise excellent. Countless iterations of a product must be made in order to make something truly amazing and even then you might miss the mark or just go crazy from trying to fix everything. For me this is just the beginning of my game dev journey so I'm still full of energy and excitement about it but I can already see the mountain of work if I am to finish this game. To those who are just beginning or have an idea in their head I say "don't just let it hang around, try it out" and to those ahead of me in their journey to completing a game I say "my respect for you is 100x more than it was before I started game dev".
All this to say, wow it's hard to make something out of nothing.
Rant over, back to writing quests xD
